The Power of Music
Nothing soothes and thrills the heart more, than some great music that touches the core of the soul. Whatever your favorite genre may be, they all create that feeling that thugs and melts the heart.
It was American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow who summed it up perfectly when he said that music “is the universal language of mankind”, as it has a way of bringing people of different cultures together, igniting similar feelings in all of us.
Research has shown that music is medicine not just to the soul but the mind as well and can have very positive effects on those suffering from diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Documentaries such as, “Alive Inside, A Story of Music & Memory”, show the profound use of music in assisting those affected by diseases to recall events from the era of the music they listen. The soothing power of music is well-established and is also an extremely effective stress management tool; perfect for relaxing our minds and bodies.
Bob Marley’s Trenchtown Rock is right on track with his lyrics:
“One good thing about music,
When it hits you, you feel no pain
So hit me with music
Hit me with music”
Now, what’s your favorite genre? Has music helped you to overcome any challenge?
